For a generation that is assumed to be distant and aloof, millennials do share a lot. From carpooling to cab sharing and now co-working, young Indians have steadily moved to maximize the power of a close community. These urban buzzwords have now caught the eye of the real estate market, where some startups are giving the plain world of PGs and Hostels a modern makeover.

When Ishita moved from Agra to Bangalore to pursue her MA from NIFT, she scoured for weeks to find the right PG accommodation or even a flat that was within a reasonable distance from her college, because the pain of Bangalore traffic isn’t mythical. From haggling with brokers to finding flatmates, it was turning out to be a monstrous task until she chanced upon NestAway, a company that provides serviced independent apartments with common recreational areas.
